Welcome to the GladiusRO War of Emperium, commonly called WoE. During WoE, guilds fight to defend or capture an enabled castle by reaching and destroying its Emperium.

This guide explains the current selected-castle WoE system, automatic castle defenders, Emperium rules, castle ownership, and what a castle owner can and cannot control.

1. WoE Overview

GladiusRO uses a selected-castle WoE system.

  • Only the castle or castles enabled for the scheduled session will participate.
  • If only one castle is enabled, WoE takes place only in that castle.
  • Castles that are not enabled remain outside the active WoE session.
  • Ownership of an inactive castle is not removed simply because the castle was not selected.
  • An already occupied selected castle remains owned by its current guild when WoE begins.
  • Enemy guilds must enter the active castle and destroy its Emperium to capture it.

2. Who Can Participate?

To attack an Emperium, a player should:

  • Use a real player character.
  • Join a guild.
  • Enter a castle that is active for the current WoE session.
  • Belong to a guild that is hostile to the castle owner.
  • Meet the server's normal WoE and Guild Approval requirements.
  • Use normal basic attacks against the Emperium.

Guildless characters may enter areas allowed by the server, but cannot capture a castle through the normal guild ownership system.

3. How to Capture a Castle

  1. Join or create a guild.
  2. Prepare equipment, recovery items, and a coordinated party.
  3. Check which castle is enabled for the current WoE session.
  4. Enter the enabled castle after WoE begins.
  5. Fight through enemy players and castle defenders.
  6. Reach the Emperium room.
  7. Use normal basic attacks against the Emperium.
  8. The guild of the eligible player who lands the final accepted hit captures the castle.

After a successful break, the standard castle ownership event runs and the breaking guild becomes the new owner.

4. Equal Emperium Battle Rules

The current Emperium system is designed to give different character classes a more equal opportunity to contribute.

  • Emperium HP: 50
  • Accepted damage: 1 damage per valid contribution
  • Contribution interval: a maximum of one accepted hit every 50 milliseconds per real character
  • Attack type: normal basic attacks only
  • Skills do not damage the Emperium
  • Fake players cannot damage or break the Emperium
  • Pets cannot damage the Emperium
  • Homunculi cannot damage the Emperium
  • Mercenaries cannot damage the Emperium
  • Elementals cannot damage the Emperium
  • Monsters, guardians, and NPC combat units cannot damage the Emperium
  • Off-hand and dual-wield attacks do not provide extra Emperium damage
  • Critical attacks do not provide extra Emperium damage
  • Multi-hit effects do not provide additional contribution
  • Cards, refinement, weapon power, and elements do not increase accepted Emperium damage

This means that every eligible real character contributes through the same fixed-damage rule. A very expensive weapon or extremely high attack speed does not automatically produce more accepted Emperium damage.

Estimated Minimum Break Times

The following examples assume uninterrupted attacking and no missed or rejected hits:

  • 1 attacker: approximately 100 seconds
  • 5 attackers: approximately 50 seconds
  • 10 attackers: approximately 10 seconds

Actual break time will normally be longer because attackers may be interrupted, defeated, displaced, or forced to fight defenders and rival guilds.

5. Automatic Castle Defenders

An occupied active castle may receive automatic castle defenders if defenders were configured for that castle by server administration.

Defenders are native guardian-style combat units associated with the guild that currently owns the castle.

Defenders can:

  • Guard passages and areas inside the castle.
  • Detect and attack hostile players within their range.
  • Support the current castle owner's defense.
  • Use configured melee, ranged, recovery, or magic abilities.

Defenders cannot:

  • Damage or break the Emperium.
  • Capture a castle.
  • Deliver the final Emperium hit.
  • Give Base EXP or Job EXP when defeated.
  • Drop normal items, cards, or MVP rewards.
  • Receive WoE participation rewards.

The current defender profiles are:

Castle Knight

A close-range defender intended to pressure nearby attackers. The profile may use abilities such as Provoke, Auto Counter, and Bowling Bash.

Castle Ranger

A ranged defender intended to pressure attackers from a distance. The profile may use abilities such as Double Strafe, Arrow Shower, and Ankle Snare.

Castle Bishop

A support and magic defender intended to help sustain castle protection. The profile may use Heal, Lex Aeterna, and Cold Bolt.

All defender profiles currently use the supported castle guardian appearance. The appearance may be the same even though statistics and skill profiles are different.

6. Can the Castle Owner Control the Defenders?

In the current system, the castle owner does not directly command, move, summon, dismiss, or change the number of defenders.

The defenders operate automatically:

  • Server administration configures the number of defenders for each castle.
  • Defenders spawn automatically when a configured, occupied castle is selected and WoE starts.
  • Defenders automatically recognize the current castle-owning guild as friendly.
  • Defenders automatically attack hostile players according to their combat AI.
  • Defenders are removed automatically when WoE ends.
  • If castle ownership changes, the system checks the owner and refreshes defenders for the new owning guild, normally within approximately 15 seconds.

The owning guild controls the defense indirectly by coordinating with the defenders. Guild members can hold entrances, protect the Emperium room, support defender positions, and attack enemies engaged by the defenders.

7. How the Owner Guild Can Use Defenders Effectively

Although the owner cannot issue direct commands to defenders, the owner guild can use the defenders strategically:

  • Form defensive lines near defender locations.
  • Protect ranged defenders from close-range attackers.
  • Prevent enemies from isolating defenders one at a time.
  • Heal and support guild members while defenders pressure invaders.
  • Use chokepoints to slow attackers.
  • Keep scouts near castle entrances and key passages.
  • Maintain a final defense around the Emperium.
  • Avoid relying entirely on automated defenders.

Defenders are support units, not a replacement for active guild members.

8. What Happens When a Defender Is Defeated?

A defeated defender does not immediately respawn during the same ownership period.

Defenders are normally recreated when:

  • A new scheduled WoE starts.
  • Castle ownership changes.
  • Server administration changes the configured defender quantity while the castle is active.

Attackers can therefore weaken the castle defense by defeating defenders before pushing toward the Emperium.

9. What Happens After an Emperium Break?

When an eligible real enemy character lands the final accepted hit:

  1. The Emperium is destroyed.
  2. The attacker's guild becomes the new castle owner.
  3. The castle's standard break event runs.
  4. Defenders associated with the previous owner are removed.
  5. The defender system checks the new owner.
  6. If defenders are configured, new defenders are deployed for the new owner, normally within approximately 15 seconds.
  7. Members of the new owner guild become friendly to the new defenders.
  8. Members of the previous owner guild are treated as hostile.

The battle may continue until the scheduled WoE ending time.

10. What Happens When WoE Ends?

At the scheduled end of WoE:

  • Active WoE systems are stopped.
  • The final castle owner remains the owner.
  • Castle ownership may be announced.
  • Eligible WoE rewards are processed according to server settings.
  • Automatic defenders are removed.
  • The active castle selection is cleared for the completed session.
  • Castles do not automatically become unoccupied.

11. Important Fair-Play Rules

  • Do not use automation, macros, packet manipulation, or unauthorized software.
  • Do not use fake-player systems to attack the Emperium.
  • Do not exploit party, guild, alliance, or castle mechanics.
  • Do not attempt to duplicate WoE rewards.
  • Report abnormal defender behavior, missing Emperium damage, or unexpected castle ownership immediately.
  • Screenshots and accurate timestamps help server staff investigate issues.

12. Troubleshooting for Players

A normal attack causes no Emperium damage

Check the following:

  • WoE is currently active.
  • The castle is enabled for the current session.
  • The character belongs to an eligible guild.
  • The attacking guild does not own the castle.
  • The character is using a normal basic attack, not a skill.
  • The character is a real player and not an artificial character.
  • The guild meets normal WoE requirements.

A skill does no Emperium damage

This is expected. The current equalized system accepts only normal basic attacks.

A Homunculus does no Emperium damage

This is expected. Homunculi and other companion units cannot damage or break the Emperium.

Defenders do not appear

Possible reasons include:

  • The castle is unoccupied.
  • The castle was not selected for the current WoE session.
  • WoE has not started.
  • The configured defender quantity is zero.
  • The defenders were already defeated.
  • Server administration has disabled defenders for that castle.

Defenders attack the wrong guild

Report the castle name, current owner guild, character guild, and exact time to server staff. After an ownership change, allow approximately 15 seconds for defender allegiance to refresh.

13. Quick Player Checklist

Before WoE:

  • Join an eligible guild.
  • Check the schedule and enabled castle.
  • Prepare recovery items and equipment.
  • Organize attack, defense, and support groups.

During WoE:

  • Fight only in enabled castles.
  • Defeat hostile defenders and players.
  • Use normal basic attacks on the Emperium.
  • Protect guild members attacking the Emperium.
  • Expect castle defenders to support the current owner.

After a break:

  • Regroup immediately.
  • Prepare to defend the newly captured castle.
  • Allow approximately 15 seconds for automatic defenders to refresh for the new owner.
  • Continue defending until the scheduled WoE ending time.

14. Summary

GladiusRO WoE combines selected-castle competition, automatic owner-aligned defenders, and equalized Emperium contribution.

Every eligible real character can contribute one accepted basic-attack damage at a controlled interval. Skills, fake players, companions, equipment power, critical attacks, and dual-wield effects do not provide additional Emperium damage.

Castle defenders automatically support the current owner, but the owner cannot directly control them. The owning guild must still coordinate, defend key positions, and protect the Emperium until WoE ends.
