Grade Enhancement allows eligible equipment to advance through the following grade levels:

No Grade → D Grade → C Grade → B Grade → A Grade

Upgrading an equipment grade can improve its performance, but every attempt has a chance to fail. Depending on the material option selected, a failed attempt may either destroy the equipment or preserve the equipment.

Important: The equipment must be refined to +11 before each Grade Enhancement attempt. Always verify the selected equipment, materials, Zeny cost, failure result, and displayed success chance before confirming.

Grade Enhancer NPCs

Players can access Grade Enhancement from either of the following NPCs.

  • Exit portal: paramk 145,64
  • Exit destination: paramk 11,171

Requirements Before Starting

Before opening the Grade Enhancement window, prepare the following:

  1. Eligible equipment at the grade immediately below the desired grade.
  2. The equipment must be refined to +11.
  3. The correct Ether gemstone for the desired grade.
  4. Enough Zeny for the selected material option.
  5. Optional Blessed Ether Dust if the player wants to increase the success chance.
  6. Sufficient inventory space.

If equipment does not appear in the Grade Enhancement window, check that:

  • The equipment supports Grade Enhancement.
  • The equipment is refined to +11.
  • The equipment is at the correct current grade.
  • The equipment is not equipped, locked, or otherwise restricted by the server or client.

How to Perform Grade Enhancement

  1. Visit Sratos at grademk 34,184 or Suribell at paramk 34,184.
  2. Talk to the NPC.
  3. Select Enhance the equipment's grade.
  4. Read the warning explaining that magical power may explode and the equipment may be destroyed.
  5. Select I'll still do it!
  6. The Grade Enhancement user interface will open.
  7. Select the eligible +11 equipment.
  8. Select one of the available material options:
    • Break-on-failure option: Lower material and Zeny cost, but the equipment is destroyed if the attempt fails.
    • Preservation option: Higher material and Zeny cost, but the equipment is preserved if the attempt fails.
  9. Optionally add Blessed Ether Dust to increase the displayed success chance.
  10. Confirm the equipment name, current grade, target grade, materials, Zeny, failure result, and success chance.
  11. Start Grade Enhancement.

Warning: Never choose the break-on-failure option for valuable equipment unless the player accepts the possibility of permanently losing that equipment.

  • Blessed Ether Dust: 7 dust gives +1%
  • Maximum dust: 70
  • Maximum success chance: 50%

Blessed Ether Dust

Blessed Ether Dust is an optional additional material. It raises the success chance shown in the Grade Enhancement window.

  • The amount needed for each +1% depends on the target grade.
  • The maximum additional success chance is +10%.
  • Blessed Ether Dust does not preserve equipment.
  • Blessed Ether Dust does not guarantee success.
  • The equipment can still fail at the increased success rate.

For example, a No Grade → D Grade attempt starts at 70%. Using the maximum 10 Blessed Ether Dust increases the chance to 80%.

Etel Item Exchange

Both Grade Enhancer NPCs provide access to the Etel item exchange.

  1. Talk to Sratos or Suribell.
  2. Select Exchange Etel items.
  3. The EnchantGradeExchange shop will open.
  4. Review the required Etel Dust, base jewel, and fee.
  5. Exchange the materials for the Ether gemstone required by the intended grade.

The source NPC script opens the exchange shop but does not contain the shop's item-cost definitions. Therefore, players should check the exchange-shop window for the exact materials and quantities configured on the server.

Recommended Safe Method

For valuable or difficult-to-replace equipment:

  1. Refine the eligible equipment to +11.
  2. Prepare the preservation-option materials and Zeny.
  3. Add Blessed Ether Dust if a higher success chance is desired.
  4. Confirm that the correct equipment is selected.
  5. Confirm that the failure result says the equipment will be preserved.
  6. Verify the final success chance displayed in the client.
  7. Proceed only when every detail is correct.

For inexpensive or replaceable equipment, the lower-cost break-on-failure option may be used, but failure can permanently destroy the equipment.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does Grade Enhancement always succeed?

No. Every available grade shown in this guide has a success chance below 100%, even after using the maximum amount of Blessed Ether Dust.

Can the equipment break?

Yes. The equipment can be destroyed when the break-on-failure option is selected and the attempt fails. Use the preservation option for valuable equipment.

Does the preservation option guarantee success?

No. The preservation option protects the equipment from destruction on failure. It does not guarantee that the grade will increase.

Are materials and Zeny consumed when an attempt fails?

Players should assume that attempt materials and Zeny will be consumed when Grade Enhancement is started. Always verify the Grade Enhancement user interface and the server's current configuration before confirming.

Why is my equipment not shown?

The equipment may be ineligible, below +11, at an unsupported grade, equipped, locked, or restricted. Unequip the item, verify its refine level and grade, and try again.

Can I skip directly from No Grade to a higher grade?

No. Grade progression is performed one level at a time:

No Grade → D → C → B → A

Which NPC should I use?

Sratos and Suribell both open the same Grade Enhancement interface and Etel exchange shop. Use whichever location is more convenient.

Important Notes

  • Grade Enhancement is different from normal equipment refinement.
  • The equipment must meet the displayed requirements for every grade attempt.
  • A successful grade does not mean the next grade will automatically succeed.
  • Always read the client window before confirming because the server configuration may be updated.
  • The values displayed by the live Grade Enhancement interface are the final authority if they differ from this guide.
